To celebrate 75 years of Whirligig — the pioneering BBC television show that brought puppets to life — the Joy Laurey Archive has teamed up with the Tiptree Jam Museum to create a special anniversary display.
On show is Mr Turnip, the cheeky vegetable puppet who became a national favourite in the 1950s, alongside rare memorabilia, photos, and artefacts from the Joy Laurey collection.
This charming exhibit pays tribute to one of Britain’s earliest TV icons and the talented puppeteer who made him dance, talk and laugh — Joy Laurey: the girl who pulled the strings.

From October to December 2025.
