Mr Turnip Picture Blocks
Boxed Mr Turnip picture-block puzzle set associated with Ariel Productions Ltd. The blue-lidded box features a photographic image of Mr Turnip alongside Whirligig-related props and ephemera. Inside is a set of six picture blocks/cubes which can be rearranged to form different photographic scenes, together with printed reference cards showing the completed pictures. The box states that the pictures on the cubes are reproduced by permission from “The T.V. Whirligig”, published by Ariel Productions Ltd. The surviving images include Mr Turnip in several staged settings as well as other Whirligig puppet characters, making the set an unusual example of early television-related children's merchandise.
