Mr Turnip Beeju Fully Coloured Television Film Strips
Two original boxed Beeju 'Fully Coloured Television Film' strips featuring Mr Turnip, made by E.V.B. Plastics Ltd of Salfords, Surrey, for use with the Beeju Toy Television Set. The surviving strips include the stories 'Mr Turnip's Cake' and 'Mr Turnip's Sporting Dream', presented as sequences of coloured transparent frames. In the Beeju toy television, film strips were passed through the set and illuminated from behind so the pictures could be viewed on its small screen. These examples are rare survivors of the early wave of British television character merchandising that followed Mr Turnip's success on BBC television.
