Mr Turnip Hard-Head Glove Puppet — Dean's Rag Book Co.
A vintage Mr Turnip glove puppet made by Dean's Rag Book Co. Ltd of London. The puppet has a hard painted character head with Mr Turnip's distinctive large eyes, green ears and curled topknot, above a traditional hand-operated cloth body. He wears a bright red velvet-style jacket front with black lapels, a white shirt panel, black bow tie and a small yellow flower detail, with pale fabric hands. This surviving example illustrates another form of licensed Mr Turnip merchandise produced during the character's popularity on BBC television in the 1950s.
