Joy Laurey letter to Mrs Peters, signed “Mr Turnip”
Handwritten two-page personal letter from Joy Laurey to Mrs Peters, dated 20 November 1955 from Tiptree, Essex. Laurey thanks Mrs Peters for flattering comments published in the Friday evening Star newspaper concerning “Joy Laurey and me”, says how pleased she was to meet her, and invites Mrs Peters and her husband to visit Tiptree, “the land of strawberries”. The letter is signed in character as “Mr Turnip”, followed by a postscript from Joy recommending a visit when the strawberries are ripe.
